Overview / Responsibilities:

Wood is recruiting for an Electrical Site Engineer to join our Project Development Engineering (PDE) team within our renewables consulting division. This role will be on a contract or staff basis and will be based on site close to the city of Kozani in Northern Greece for a period of 2 years.

The Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Site Engineer to join our team for a prominent wind farm project. As an Electrical Site Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the electrical aspects of the wind farm construction, installation, commissioning, and ongoing operations. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will contribute to the successful implementation and functioning of the wind farm.

Typical responsibilities

Construction & Installation
  • Collaborate with the project management team to develop detailed electrical installation plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Supervise the installation of electrical equipment, including wind turbines, power collection systems, substation equipment, and cabling
  • Ensure compliance with Employer’s Requirements, electrical codes, standards, and regulations during the construction process
  • Perform regular inspections to verify the quality of electrical installations and workmanship
Commissioning
  • Oversee the commissioning process of electrical systems, ensuring proper integration and functioning of components
  • Conduct functional tests and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the commissioning phase
  • Coordinate with various teams to perform system integration tests and resolve any interlocking issues

Operations & Maintenance
  • Provide technical support for ongoing operations and maintenance activities of the wind farm.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to diagnose and rectify electrical faults in a timely manner
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of electrical systems
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to electrical systems, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides


Health & Safety

  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to and enforcing safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Identify potential safety hazards related to electrical installations and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Conduct safety training and ensure that all personnel working on electrical systems are well-informed about safety procedures

Stakeholder Communication
  • Liaise with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth coordination of electrical activities
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and milestones to relevant stakeholders

Technical Expertise
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in wind turbine technology and electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and propose innovative solutions to optimize system performance

Expected:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering within the renewable energy sector, preferably wind farms
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, power electronics, and control systems used in wind farms
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Safety-conscious mindset and a track record of promoting safe work practices
  • Greek speaker preferred
