Wood is recruiting for an Electrical Site Engineer to join our Project Development Engineering (PDE) team within our renewables consulting division. This role will be on a contract or staff basis and will be based on site close to the city of Kozani in Northern Greece for a period of 2 years.

The Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Site Engineer to join our team for a prominent wind farm project. As an Electrical Site Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the electrical aspects of the wind farm construction, installation, commissioning, and ongoing operations. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will contribute to the successful implementation and functioning of the wind farm.

Typical responsibilities
Construction & Installation
- Collaborate with the project management team to develop detailed electrical installation plans, schedules, and budgets
- Supervise the installation of electrical equipment, including wind turbines, power collection systems, substation equipment, and cabling
- Ensure compliance with Employer’s Requirements, electrical codes, standards, and regulations during the construction process
- Perform regular inspections to verify the quality of electrical installations and workmanship
- Oversee the commissioning process of electrical systems, ensuring proper integration and functioning of components
- Conduct functional tests and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the commissioning phase
- Coordinate with various teams to perform system integration tests and resolve any interlocking issues
Operations & Maintenance
- Provide technical support for ongoing operations and maintenance activities of the wind farm.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to diagnose and rectify electrical faults in a timely manner
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of electrical systems
- Develop and maintain documentation related to electrical systems, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Health & Safety
- Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to and enforcing safety protocols and guidelines.
- Identify potential safety hazards related to electrical installations and take appropriate corrective actions
- Conduct safety training and ensure that all personnel working on electrical systems are well-informed about safety procedures
Stakeholder Communication
- Liaise with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth coordination of electrical activities
- Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and milestones to relevant stakeholders
Technical Expertise
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in wind turbine technology and electrical systems
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and propose innovative solutions to optimize system performance
Expected:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
- Proven experience in electrical engineering within the renewable energy sector, preferably wind farms
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, power electronics, and control systems used in wind farms
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Safety-conscious mindset and a track record of promoting safe work practices
- Greek speaker preferred
